OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT – Cascade Regional Inclusive Services
Classification: Licensed 190-day calendar
Reports to: Cascade Regional Inclusive Services Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Occupational Therapy Assistants in the Cascade Regional Inclusive Services program work in tandem with the Occupational Therapists to maximize the impact of the invaluable supports we provide to students. As a member of Cascade Regional Inclusive Services, this position is a part of a dynamic team of professionals who support our district staff in Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties. Our OTAs have the opportunity to provide a variety of delivery models across a wide range of ages including communities and home settings. OTAs collaborate with their colleagues on a multi-disciplinary approach to services for our most impacted students. This role is surrounded by specialists who support each other in our joint mission to help all students/children access their education in a meaningful and successful way, while learning from each other and growing as a professional.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate’s degree (AA) with a certificate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
2. Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license from the Oregon Occupational Therapy Licensing Board is required.
3. Two or more years of clinical experience in an educational or pediatric setting is preferred.
4. Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
10. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
12. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds as well as ability to sit for extended periods of time in vehicle, desk and various sized school furniture.
13. Ability to occasionally bend, squat, twist, climb stairs and sit on the floor.
14. Ability to provide own transportation to school, preschools, community settings and homes in locations throughout a three county region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, or duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time it’s deemed necessary.
1. Consult and collaborate regularly with supervising OT.
2. Maintain detailed records of treatment, observation and progress of each student’s functioning, abilities and use of adaptive equipment.
3. Display knowledge of, or is able to research etiology characteristics and prognosis of major handicapping conditions.
4. Display knowledge of normal developmental sequences and learning patterns in the areas of sensory, motor and psycho-social and cognitive development.
5. Provide occupational therapy services and interventions in the areas of fine motor, sensory processing, self-care and activities of daily living skills (including safe eating and dressing.)
6. Attend IFSP, IEP and other team meetings to assist the education team in the development of appropriate goals, objectives, modifications, accommodations, strategies and behavior plans for identified students on the caseload with the support of supervising OT.
7. Design, construct and adapt materials and equipment to effectively meet individual student learning needs as related to positioning, handwriting, keyboarding, feeding, sensory supports and communication.
8. Serve as a resource, consultant and trainer to provide suggestions, trainings and/or equipment for use by students, educators and/or families.
9. Assist specialists (OT, PT, SLP, Vision, etc.), families, and school staff with selection, procurement and use of relevant assistive technology.
10. Instructs education staff in appropriate body mechanics, positioning, handling and mobility needs of the student to support educational goals/program with support of supervising OT.
11. Synthesize and integrate clinical, educational and interpersonal issues regarding change, disabilities, grief and loss.
12. Participate in Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed.

- Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
- Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
- Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
