SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Linn Benton Lincoln Educational Service District (LBL ESD) is accepting applications for Licensed Substitute Teachers to establish an ongoing pool of candidates.This position makes a world of difference for student and teachers alike. We are looking for committed, compassionate and positive educators who are ready to make a difference for students.
Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received and according to the current needs and requirements of the ESD. RESPONSIBILITIES
Licensed Substitute Teachers are used by LBL ESD on an as-needed basis to cover the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. The primary role of a Licensed Substitute Teacher is to continue student learning along the continuum as established by the absent regular teacher. The responsibilities of the Licensed Substitute Teacher in the classroom may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lesson planning
- Teaching students
- Managing the classroom
- Performing administrative tasks
- Promoting positive student behavior
- Ensuring the safety and security of the students
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, parents, school district staff and community populations
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and work a varied schedule
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Promotion of equity and diversity in all settings and understanding and commitment to anti-racists principles.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
- Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
- Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
- Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
- Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
- Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.

2024-2025 School Year Rates:
Sites operating with a 5-day per week schedule are paid $105.96 for a half-day or $211.92 for a full day (Long Term Care and Treatment)
Sites operating with a 4-day per week schedule are paid $119.21 for half day or $238.41 for a full day (EI/ECSE sites)
