$19.56 per hour

CUSTODIAN / COURIER

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Oregon driver’s license.
  3. Minimum of three years experience in a custodial position with evidence of building maintenance expertise.
  4. Knowledge of effective cleaning practices, procedures and equipment.
  5. Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Security, and other building systems.
  6. Knowledge of safety rules, practices, and procedures.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  8. Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines.
  9. Ability to read basic operating and material safety instructions.
  10. Possess basic computational math skills.
  11. Ability to respond in a positive cooperative manner to direction.
  12. Ability to work independently, prioritize the work schedule, take initiative, and use good judgment in the performance of tasks.
  13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL

 

Contributes to the appearance and operations of LBL by cleaning and maintaining assigned buildings and grounds, and performing minor maintenance and operations duties.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.  Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Maintain the LBL building and equipment through basic cleaning processes, including washing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash containers, and other tasks as assigned.
  2. Maintain assigned LBL grounds ensuring that the grounds are mowed and tidy.
  3. Clean lavatories, including toilets and sinks, mirrors, walls and dispensers to ensure proper sanitary conditions and good appearance on a daily basis. Check and fill towel, soap and sanitary napkin dispensers.
  4. Ensure that all conference rooms are set-up as requested by conference center users.
  5. Wash windows and glass throughout the facility to assure good appearance and visibility.
  6. Sanitize drinking fountains on a regular basis.
  7. Vacuum and /or maintain all floors, corridors, and furniture in a clean, attractive condition.
  8. Clean, dust, and vacuum offices, conference rooms, conference room kitchen, staff room etc. on a systematic basis. Refill supplies as needed in staff room and conference room kitchen.
  9. Regularly inspect the First Aid supplies to ensure that all First Aid boxes are well-stocked.
  10. Report needed repair work to supervisor and assist with repairs as assigned.
  11. Perform minor repairs to buildings and fixtures; replaces and repairs light bulbs and fixtures as necessary.
  12. Correct or report safety, sanitary and fire hazards.
  13. Move equipment or furniture within the building and assist with meeting set-up as needed.
  14. Operate, monitor and report irregularities in the operation of security, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
  15. Assume responsibility for opening or closing the LBL building and / or satellite work sites as assigned. This includes but is not limited to ensuring that all windows and doors are secured all appropriate lights and appliances turned off and the alarm system activated.
  16. Serve as Courier when assigned.
  17. Keep a rolling inventory list of custodial, kitchen and restroom supplies. Provide a supply order list to the Facilities Administrative Assistant when supplies are needed.
  18. Work well within a team. Promote good staff morale and put team needs above individual needs.
  19. Collaborate with others to complete tasks and solve problems in a positive manner
  20. Communicate effectively in a courteous, tactful and professional manner.

 

Other Functions:

 

  1. Assemble furniture and workstations as assigned.
  2. Repair plumbing such as faucets, drain traps, and toilet valves as needed.
  3. Repair furniture, shelves, doors, and locks as assigned.
  4. Provides assistance to other custodians as assigned.
  5. Monitor and secure the LBL building after night meetings as needed.
  6. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting equity and diversity.
  7. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds on a regular basis, and 100 pounds occasionally.
  2. Must provide own transportation and report to a variety of work sites.
  3. Must be able to vary the hours of work to accommodate absent custodians and couriers as needed, and to accommodate contractor work that shuts down vital systems.
  4. Must be able to drive a district owned van for 2 or more hours at a single sitting.
  5. Must be able to respond to emergencies during off hours.
  6. Must be able to use tools that vibrate (power tools, lawnmower, etc.).
  7. Must be able to stand, walk for the majority of an 8-hour day.
