TITLE
BEHAVIOR CONSULTANT
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Valid Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) as a School Counselor or a Limited Student Services provider or ability to obtain. (LBL ESD will be a co-applicant with the Behavior Consultant for the Limited Student Services License at the time of employment.) 2. A Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology or equivalent and corresponding professional licensure. 3. Direct experience with students who have social, emotional or behavioral challenges and their families. 4. Skills for providing consultation to schools, families and community agencies regarding the needs of these students. 5. Successful experience with the practice and application of individual, family and group therapy techniques. 6. Effective oral and written communication skills. 7. Computer skills for word processing and data entry. 8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
Provide proactive, engaged and accountable assistance to school districts in making available a full continuum of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports for identified students experiencing social, emotional and behavioral challenges that are interfering with learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position. Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide itinerant student support services to local school districts regarding positive youth development and management of students with moderate to severe social, emotional, behavioral challenges, as assigned. 2. Provide student- focused direct services which may require taking the lead for functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention planning, support with implementation and monitoring student progress, case management, support for team collection of relevant student data and individual/group therapy regarding moderate to severe behavior related issues. 3. Assist school teams or may be required take the lead and provide ongoing support in the development and implementation of intervention plans, which may include teacher strategies, home intervention plans, safety risk assessments and plans, and development of behavior goals for students on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 4. Provide district and building level services including: staff training, crisis response, Student Threat Assessment (STAT), Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) coaching, classroom behavior management, staff consultation, classroom presentations and participation on building level teams, district level teams, IEP teams, and 504 teams. 5. Provide leadership and technical assistance to district staff in relation to providing best practice approaches to serving students at risk of school failure and integrate services with assigned districts’ PBIS framework. 6. Act as liaison between the LBL, constituent districts, and social service agencies as appropriate. 7. Assist school teams or may be required to take the lead in the preparation of records, reports, recommendations, correspondence and facilitating meetings as necessary and/or directed. 8. Collect and record data related to services provided and outcomes achieved. 9. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules.
Other Functions:
1. Attend district and program sponsored in-service and professional growth opportunities as assigned. 2. Work collegially with parent, school district, social service and court- appointed personnel. 3. Maintain confidentiality at all times. 4. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting equity and diversity. 5. Maintain professional dress standards. 6. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Ability to provide services to students in constituent Districts as assigned. 2. Ability to provide own transportation to schools and agencies as deemed necessary. 3. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in vehicle and at desk. 4. Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 25 pounds. 5. Ability to use computer for extended periods of time to generate reports, complete data entry and schedules. 6. Ability to speak to large groups.
